Digital Marketing for Small Business: Where to Start
'Digital marketing' sounds like a giant machine with a hundred switches. Here is the truth: for a small business, only three of those switches matter at the start. Everything else can wait.
Switch one: a message people understand
Before any ad, post, or email — one sentence: what you do, for whom, and why it is better. If your ten-year-old could repeat your sentence back to you, it is ready. If not, nothing built on top of it will work.
Switch two: one place you show up well
You do not need to be everywhere. Pick the one place your best customers already look — Google search, Facebook, LinkedIn, wherever — and show up there properly and often. One strong presence beats five weak ones every single time.
Switch three: a way to follow up
Most people who visit you are not ready to buy today. Collect a way to reach them — an email address, a phone number — and follow up simply and kindly. The money is almost never in the first visit. It is in the follow-up.
What to ignore for now
Every social platform you are not sure about. Fancy videos. The newest app everyone talks about. Those can come later, once the three switches are on. Businesses rarely fail from doing too little marketing; they fail from doing twenty things at one-tenth strength.
Want those three switches turned on for you, in order, without the noise? That is exactly the work we do. Say hello.
