How to Get a Book Published

Your book is done. Now comes the part most people find scary: getting it published. The good news is that there are only three doors, and none of them is a mystery. Here they are.

Door one: a big publisher

The big publishing houses pay you, not the other way around. They edit, print, and sell your book, and you keep a share of every sale. The catch: most big publishers only read books sent to them by an agent, and the whole process can take a year or more.

Door two: you publish it yourself

Self-publishing means you are the publisher. You pay for the editing, the cover, and the printing — and you keep control and most of the money. It is faster, but you are also on your own for the hard parts.

Door three: a helper in between

Some authors want a big publisher but do not want to fight through the process alone. That is where a publishing concierge comes in — someone who gets the book ready, finds the right publishers, and stays with you until the deal is done. (That is what we do.)

Which door is right for you?

It depends on three things: how fast you want it out, how much of the work you want to carry, and what kind of reader you want to reach. There is no wrong door — only the wrong door for you.

Not sure which door fits your book? That is a free conversation. Say hello and we will tell you honestly.
