DENNIS W.C. WONG

A life of care, now a life of stories.

Dennis Wong recently retired from Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, California, where he worked as a Nurse Assistant in the Operating Room, and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse doing home health care. It was only after exploring the paint sales industry that he felt drawn to healthcare.

Backed by an Associate of Arts in Retail Marketing from Chabot College, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management — Personnel and Industrial Relations from California State University, Hayward. In 2020, Marquis Who's Who presented him with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.

His writing began in 2002 with "My Journey," written during a certified nursing assistant class. In 2018 came the memoir of his mother, The Apricot Outlook of Katherine Koon Hung Wong — her Chinese middle name means outlook apricot, and the apricot became his lifelong theme. It grew into the Appy children's series, love poems for his wife Jocelyn, and the four-part Ranges romance series. As a Sterile Processing Technician, he also volunteers with Surgical Missions to Guatemala and Ecuador.
